My name is Desiree Joy Frias and I was brutally arrested on November 5th, 2011 at an Occupy Wall St protest in front of Foley Square. Six male police officers dragged me by my legs and clothing, removing most of my skirt and leggings in front of two thousand people. They flipped me over and my face hit the concrete. They then placed me in metal hand cuffs and dragged me up the stairs. I remember hearing screams and the moment where I realized they were mine. I felt weightless as I looked down at everyone, tears streaming down my face.To this day, this scene haunts me in my nightmares. After a year of hearings, I will be going to trial. The exact charges will be outlined tomorrow, but it will most likely be misdemeanor resisting arrest (two other charges were dropped). I am not taking a plea bargain which would give me three days community service because I was raised on the value of honesty and justice and my innocence is not only something I
am certain of but something I will never put aside.I need your support. I need witnesses, photographs and evidence to plead my case. Anyone who was there at Foley Square on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at 2pm and would like to speak on my behalf, have any information/pictures or just want to give your words of support please call me at 6464746627 or email me at startatthefinishline@gmail.com . These will be some trying times for me and my family as we fight for my freedom. Although I do not face jail time, the entire situation over the last year has been very isolating and oppressive. Please share this post so that I can reach as many people as possible. Its a lot to ask, and I’m just one person. But words cannot describe my thanks to you for reading this and for your support.Desiree Joy Frias
